As a student in an Addictions or Youth Community Services Worker program, you will learn to play a pivotal role in the lives of those living with substance abuse, mental health issues and other challenges. You’ll gain a solid fundamental understanding of addiction and its impact on high-risk populations, youth and families. You’ll also study the essentials of psychology, pharmacology and ethics.
In addition to case file management and treatment planning, you’ll learn be exposed to the various community resources available to individuals coping with addiction and mental health issues. All of your skills and knowledge will be put to use during a community placement.
In a matter of months, you’ll have developed the skills and knowledge to excel as an addictions and community services worker in recovery centres, health clinics, non-profit organizations and other settings.
