Pharmacy Technician

C DI College’s Pharmacy Technician diploma program teaches students the fundamental skills and knowledge required for a successful career as a Pharmacist’s Technician. Student will be able to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary in the evolving pharmacy industry.

Pharmacy Technician Program Focus

Pharmacy tech students learn about compounding and dispensing medications, pharmaceutical calculations, drug/body interactions, and drug delivery systems among other subjects. Mandatory practicum placements help students develop real-world skills such as customer service and communication.

BC

• In British Columbia, Pharmacy Technician is a regulated health profession under the College of Pharmacists of BC. Graduates of CDI College's Pharmacy Technician program are able to write exams with the Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada (PEBC) and the College of Pharmacists of BC.

Alberta

• Pharmacy Technician is a regulated health profession under the Alberta College of Pharmacists (ACP). Graduates of the Pharmacy Technician program at CDI College in Alberta, will achieve competencies specified in the National Association of Pharmacy Regulatory Authorities (NAPRA) Professional Competencies for Canadian Pharmacy Technicians at Entry to Practice and the Canadian Pharmacy Technician Educators Association (CPTEA) Educational Outcomes for Pharmacy Technician Programs in Canada.

Graduates will also be eligible to apply to write the certification examination offered by the Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada (PEBC) and to register with the ACP.

Accreditation

The Canadian Council for Accreditation of Pharmacy Programs (CCAPP) has awarded Full Accreditation status for a three-year term, from January 1st, 2016 to December 31st, 2019 for CDI College in BC, and Full Accreditation status for a 3-year term ending June 30, 2021, in Edmonton.
