The online MBA syllabus develops knowledge in core areas such as leadership, critical thinking, project planning and a range of other advanced business disciplines. Students will benefit from our highly-experienced faculty who will encourage open debate and active student participation, while also offering continuous guidance and feedback.

UCW offers contemporary knowledge with the latest software and tools featuring in our program, including Salesforce (Trailhead), Tableau and IBM Design Thinking, to ensure our students are aware of industry trends and are able to make a powerful contribution to global employers upon successful graduation.

Finally, you’ll also have the option to participate in a major research project that’s been designed to put your knowledge and skills to the test, either in a real business setting or as part of a strategic management course. You may also choose to take up the work experience module.

Upon completion of this ACBSP-accredited course, graduates will be able to make strategic decisions in response to challenges within the business world.

Through learning how to confidently manage a team and by gaining problem-solving skills, students will be trained to become effective leaders in their field.

Business courses powered by the latest technology

Tableau, Salesforce and IBM Design Thinking are all featured in our program and this is part of UCW’s aim to become Vancouver’s tech-business university. Students can expect to receive expert insight into how this technology can help provide solutions to combat corporate issues.

Tableau

Tableau is a great data visualization tool used within the business intelligence industry and is part of UCW’s Business-650 (Business Analytics) course.

Salesforce

Salesforce is a customer relationship management (CRM) system that provides all departments within a company, a shared view of their consumers. Salesforce has been incorporated into our Marketing-621 course (Marketing Management).

IBM Design Thinking

UCW has created a new entrepreneurship course which we launched this term. Business-641 (Entrepreneurship) incorporates IBM Design Thinking - a framework designed for corporations that implement these principles to solve complex problems in a creative way.

Work Experience

Integrated work experience for MBA students is available as an option and you can choose to do this over one or two terms. This can be done in your second or third year (35 hours per week for 12 weeks). The work experience will be supervised and is your chance to apply the skills you’ve gained.

Course Structure

The online MBA offer the same structure as the on-campus course, differing only in delivery method. This program is ideal for those who struggle to fit an on-campus program around their daily commitments.

UCW’s online MBA offer the same materials and covers the same syllabus as the on-campus alternative, Students are able to refine their knowledge and gain specialist skills by choosing one of three elective courses in the areas of Marketing, Finance or Leadership.

The MBA content is delivered online via:

• Dynamic video content
• Business case studies within a global context
• Precise and informative study materials
• One-to-one contact with your professor via email and skype

Entry Requirements

A Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university, with a cumulative GPA of 3.00 out of 4.33 scale (or equivalent) or better and

Have one of the following:

• Acceptable score on a Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) or the Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) that has been written in the last five years.
• An appropriate Canadian professional designation or equivalent international designation (e.g. CPA, CA, CGA, CMA, CHRP or P.Eng).
• A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (BBA) or Commerce (BComm) or equivalent.
• A minimum of three (3) years documented professional or management experience.

AND

• IELTS - 6.5 or better with a minimum of 6.0 in the writing band, or equivalent (for students whose first language is not English)

Applicants who do not hold all of the above academic and professional requirements may also qualify for entry to the MBA Program after completing the MBA Foundation program.
