T he Medical Laboratory Assistant diploma program at Vancouver Career College combines theory-based study with hands-on learning to prepare students to find employment in a medical lab setting. 

The medical lab assistant program covers a wide range of subjects including anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, biology and chemistry, laboratory math and clinical laboratory practices. Students will also gain a broad understanding of laboratory microbiology and hematology. Included in the medical lab courses, students will also learn about ethical behaviour and legislation related to the healthcare profession, in addition to safety procedures.

Graduates of the Medical Laboratory Assistant program are eligible to obtain a British Columbia Society of Laboratory Science (BCSLS) MLA Certificate.
