Medical Lab Assistant Program Information

CDI College's Medical Laboratory Assistant diploma program combines theory-based study and hands-on learning to prepare you to find employment in a medical lab setting. The medical lab assistant program covers a wide range of subjects including medical terminology, clinical laboratory practices, laboratory math, biology, chemistry and anatomy and physiology.

You will also gain a broad understanding of laboratory microbiology and hematology. Included in the medical lab courses, students will also learn about safety procedures, ethical behavior and legislation related to this profession.

As part of the lab assistant training, students must complete a clinical placement in a laboratory setting outside of the campus.

• Medical Lab Assistant/Technician Program - The Medical Laboratory Professionals’ Association of Ontario (MLPAO) has established standards for the training of Medical Laboratory Assistant/Technologists. Graduates of educational programs approved by MLPAO are eligible to write the MLPAO Examination. You may also apply to take the CSMLS National Certification Exam
