The popularity of massage therapy has increased over the last 20 years, as people add holistic health care to their overall health regimen. Not only do Naturopathic Doctors recognize massage therapy to be an important part of health care, but Medical Doctors too have recognized the health benefits such as stress and pain relief and overall patient well-being. This has resulted in a demand for Registered Massage Therapists (RMTs) across the country.
At Anderson College you will learn about Musculoskeletal Anatomy, Pathophysiology, which is the study of changes in the body that occur in response to disease or injury, soft tissue manipulation, hydrotherapy, remedial exercise and nutrition and about combining these to assess and treat various musculoskeletal injuries and chronic conditions. The instructors at Anderson College are massage therapists who have years of experience and expertise. You will also gain hands-on experience through the Anderson College massage clinic.
The Massage Therapy courses at Anderson College is based on the Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics by the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO). Upon successful completion of all courses and curriculum clinic experiences, graduates will be eligible to challenge the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario registration examinations which has both written and practical components. The accelerated Massage Therapy program at Anderson College is recognized by the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario as meeting the academic requirements for eligibility to write the registration examination. Candidates who successfully complete this examination will be entitled to use the professional designation of Registered Massage Therapist.
Registered Massage Therapists in Ontario are regulated health professionals whose governing body is the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario.
