Fashion marketing and merchandising is crucial to the global success of the multi-billion dollar fashion industry.  Merchandisers decide how fashions will be presented to the consumer, how they’re promoted and perhaps even which lines a retailer will carry.  Fashion marketers rely on their expertise in industry trends and consumer behavior and develop marketing strategies to both increase sales, but also set new trends. 

This program begins with an overview of the fashion industry including design principles, design and color theory, as well as standard software used in the industry. You'll explore traditional and non-traditional marketing initiatives such as pop-up stores, e-commerce and product placement, effective point-of-sales displays and other considerations that go into fashion buying decisions.  

Upon graduation from this program, you’ll be able to develop sales and advertising plans, write marketing plans and proposals, classify types of apparel and target markets and more.

Career opportunities exist in several areas of the fashion industry, including marketing, merchandising, visual display coordinator, fashion writer and event promoter/coordinator.
