Health Care Assistants provide invaluable support to patients with physical or mental health issues whether at home or in temporary home care.

Health Care Assistant / Health Care Aide Program Focus

AT CDI College, you will get experience within a wide range of continuing care sectors including home health care, retirement homes, hospices, and long-term care facilities. You will be taught how to:

• Respond to both the physical and emotional needs of clients
• Promote a patient’s physical and mental activation
• Assist with personal care and hygiene
• Care for patients with dementia
• Handle specialized equipment.
• Interact with the client and their family members

You will also receive CPR and first aid training, and clinical training through a work practicum.

British Columbia - Health Care Assistant Program

• The Health Care Assistant program is recognized by the BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry. Graduates are eligible for registration with the BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry.

Manitoba - Health Care Aide Program

• To receive a diploma from the Health Care Aide program you must complete six weeks (210 hours) of clinical training.
