Culinary Programs

Sullivan University’s College of Hospitality Studies offers two diplomas, a Professional Baker diploma and a Professional Cook diploma as well as Associate degrees in Baking and Pastry Arts and Culinary Arts. The school is fully equipped with an extensive international cuisine lab, complete with tandoors, woks and other specialty equipment.

Diploma Programs

Professional Baker Diploma

The Professional Baker Career Diploma program is a quick, straight-line approach to an entry-level position in the baking profession. It is designed to give you a working knowledge of the procedures, ingredients, and dos and don’ts inherent in successfully functioning in a variety of baking environments, including in-store and independent establishments.

You will have the opportunity to learn basic baking skills, nutrition, and food sanitation to qualify for the necessary certification required by the industry. The courses also teach advanced bread making and artisan bread baking techniques.

Professional Cook Diploma

The Professional Cook Career Diploma program is a quick, straight line approach to an entry-level position in the culinary profession. It’s designed to give you a working knowledge in the procedures, ingredients, sanitation and safety in the kitchen, plus the dos and don’ts inherent in successfully functioning in a variety of kitchen environments. You will have the opportunity to learn basic culinary skills, the fundamentals of cooking, nutrition, and food service sanitation to qualify for the necessary certification required by the industry.

Associate Degree Culinary Programs

Associate of Science in Baking & Pastry Arts

Sullivan’s Baking & Pastry Arts program prepares those with a passion for baking to make their mark on an industry that demands both creativity and skill.

Our program provides you with hands-on training in baking theory and technique, as well as opportunities to test your skills in regional, national and international competitions. Under Sullivan’s world-renowned chef-instructors, you will learn how to create both modern and traditional breads, pastries, candies and desserts.

Best of all, Baking & Pastry Arts students complete practicums and externships at restaurants and bakeries around Louisville, including Sullivan’s on-campus retail bakery, in order to gain experience.

Associate of Science in Culinary Arts

Master both the art and science of cooking with an Associate Degree in Culinary Arts from Sullivan University’s world-renowned National Center for Hospitality Studies. We are committed to graduating the best-prepared, most sought-after culinary professionals in the industry. Whether your goal is to land a position in a trendy restaurant, own your own business or even pursue your passion for food around the world, our Culinary Arts program will provide you with the skills and knowledge necessary to make it in this competitive industry.

The Culinary Arts program at Sullivan University's National Center for Hospitality Studies provides a solid foundation in food preparation, inventory control, sanitation and creative methods of cooking. Students are taught and mentored by the university's award-winning chef instructors and receive hands-on training through various laboratory courses, as well as an on-campus practicum at either the national award-winning fine dining restaurant Winston's or an off-campus approved site. Both day and weekend/evening schedules are available to meet students’ needs. The program is accredited by the American Culinary Federation.
