Are you compassionate and looking for a rewarding career working with youth and children?  Your compassion and training will help you make a meaningful difference in the life of a child or teenager.  The Child and Youth Services Worker program offered at CDI College in Toronto, gives you the skills to become allies to children and young people and to work to ensure their safety and well-being.

Students in the Child and Youth Services Worker program will learn:

  • Professional communication skills including counseling and interviewing
  • The fundamental concepts and principals of psychology including human development, motivation and social psychology
  • The fundamentals of poverty, addiction and mental health
  • Case management, documentation and report writing as it pertains to the social services field.
  • An understanding of the Canadian youth justice system and the impact of social systems (justice systems, social services systems, education systems, etc.)
  • The various community-based interventions, rehabilitation and restorative justice options for youth

Various organizations throughout Ontario look for dedicated professionals to provide vital services to Canada’s youth such as:

  • Family Social services Agencies
  • Aboriginal Agencies
  • Group Homes
  • Alcohol and Drug Treatment Facilities
  • Correctional Facilities
  • Community Mental Health Centres
