If you have little or no previous business experience and want to break into a career as an Administrative Assistant or Office Assistant, Eastern College’s Administrative Specialist program is designed just for you.
Administrative Assistant Program Overview
This program focuses on the development of strong word processing and office support skills such as:
- Computer fundamentals
- Word processing and document formatting
- Using spreadsheet and presentation software
- Bookkeeping fundamentals
- Database Management
- Business Communications
- Standard office skills and management
You will also hone your writing and business math skills that will make you ready to take on a wide range of office support roles.

What is remote learning?
Many Eastern College students are pursuing a new career by continuing their education through remote learning.* Instructors at Eastern College provide lessons; assign homework; and facilitate group discussions, presentations, and other classroom activities through video conferencing and other remote channels. The main goal is to ensure students receive the education needed to graduate into their new careers while delivering a learning option that gives you additional flexibility and convenience.
What does remote learning look like?
- instructor-led classes
- follow the same schedule with classes held at the same time
- class discussions and debates continue through video
- same in-class content is reviewed (i.e. presentations, case studies)
- one-on-one student check-ins with instructors
- learn new communication skills and technology such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams to better prepare you for future work situations
- it is not online learning, you are guided through the learning with your instructor and classmates
*Not all programs are available by remote learning.
