Vancouver Island Post Secondary Institutions get Funding Boost for Trades Programs

The Government of British Columbia announced three Vancouver Island schools will share a near-million dollar investment for new trades training equipment. Camosun College will receive $400,000, North Island College will receive $140,000, and Vancouver Island University will receive $399,000. The investment will go towards training equipment at these institutions and will support students who are entering occupations that are critical to BC’s economy.

“Students in trades programs on Vancouver Island will be able to get hands-on experience using industry-standard equipment” says Advanced Education Minister Andrew Wilkinson.

The BC government says by 2022, 44% of jobs will be in trades and says it's working to support this growing demand, which is crucial to growing BC's economy.
