Royal Roads has provided an education to working professionals since 1940. Canada’s Department of National Defense owned and operated the Royal Roads Military College (RRMC) that provided a military education initially to reserve officers in World War II, and then members of the army, navy, and air force. In 1975 RRMC was given the right to grant degrees with the first bachelor’s degree being earned in 1977.
