The Medical Laboratory Assistant / Technician program at Westervelt College gives you the knowledge, skills and hands-on training required to work as a Medical Lab Assistant in Ontario. You will receive theoretical and practical training from Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists who bring their industry experience to each component of this program.
The training you will receive in this Ontario Society of Medical Technologists (OSMT) approved medical laboratory assistant program includes:
Prior to graduation, students will participate in a clinical placement that will solidify the theoretical and practical knowledge and will prepare you to write the OSMT (Ontario Society of Medical Technologists) certification exam and the national CSMLS (Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science) exam.
Once you successfully pass the certification exam, you will be qualified to work in Ontario in Hospital or private labs, research facilities, environmental testing facilities and more.
