ECE Post-Basic Diploma Program Information

If you have a background in Early Childhood Education and want to teach very young children of those with special needs, the ECE Post Basic Diploma program at Sprott Shaw College a will give you an edge in the job market.

The Early Childhood Education – Post Basic diploma program builds on the skills learned in the Early Childhood Education – Basic program.  Sprott Shaw College’s ECE programs offer students both hands on practical and theory experience with an ECE lab that enables students to get hands on experience building their own materials and having many resources available to them.

The Post Basic diploma is awarded based on successful completion of the following:

Courses included in this program include:

  • Advanced Health, Safety and Nutrition
  • Advanced Child Growth and Development
  • Children with Exceptionalities I (Neurological disabilities, special health care needs, severe and multiple Disabilities, pervasive disorders and visual and hearing impairments)

This speciality provides advanced training in ECE competencies for individuals interested in working with Children With Exceptionalities and/or Infant and Toddler care.

To work as an Early Childhood Educator in BC, graduates must apply to the Early Childhood Educator registry.
