Careers for Medical and Health Services Managers in the United States are on the rise, with job growth expected through to the year 2024 by 17 percent, much faster than the average for all occupations. As the baby-boom population ages, the healthcare industry as a whole is seeing and will continue to see an increase in the demand for medical services.

What can you do with a Healthcare Administration Degree

Having a Bachelor Degree in Health Care Administration prepares you for the business side of the healthcare field.  Graduates of a health care administration program know how to manage patient health care records, are involved in the human resource, health care information management, accounting and often facilities management.

Medical and health services managers are also called healthcare administrators or healthcare executives and plan and implement medical and health services. They may manage medical practices, clinics, or specialized departments.

Health Care managers must have leadership and organizational skills to achieve excellence in the healthcare administration and management setting. Healthcare administrators must also keep up to date with new medical and healthcare laws and regulations and have the ability to manage, evaluate, analyze and report healthcare data to improve population health and reduce healthcare costs

Education Needed to Become a Health Services Manager or Health Care Administrator

A healthcare administration degree is required, with most having at least a Bachelor of Science Degree in Healthcare Administration however, having a Master of Healthcare Administration degree is also common.
