Mental Health and Addictions Care Workers prepare and conduct support programs for society’s most vulnerable groups. The Mental Health and Addictions Care Worker program at Sprott Shaw College provides students with theoretical and practical knowledge and skills needed to be successful in this career.
You will learn to apply the principles of addiction, pharmacology and relapse prevention planning. You will also gain practical skills in intake, assessment, motivational interviewing and treatment planning. In addition, you will also learn how to develop group facilitation skills as well as entry-level skill development in 1-to-1 counselling.

This program includes a 120-hour practicum placement opportunity so students can gain relevant work experience before graduation.
